The liquid detergent sits in a bottle and is fine to keep in a stockpile. What about the pods/pacs? Will they leak or eventually bust open? I'm curious to what other people think.

I do not know the real answer. I have kept my stockpile at about a 1-2 years for about 10 years now and have not had any trouble. HTH

I have never purchased the pods. Are they similar to Finish Gel Tabs? I have heard that people have had problems with the gel tabs in areas that have high humidity.

Beyond that, I have absolutely no clue. I never buy the pods/pacs because I like to choose for myself how much of any product I am going to use. Pre-measuring assures the manufacturer that you will use the product after X number of uses. It is a clever marketing trick disguised as convenience for the consumer.

Okay, okay....if they were free, I might bite.

I've gotta a ton for free (tide pods and Purex and All). I like measuring myself but the bigger bottles take up more room lol. I want to get more detergent packs if they are dirt cheap but they probably won't be used for at least 5 years.

If they get wet, or there's a lot of humidity, you may end up with them leaking or sticking to themselves. If you want to store them for awhile, I would put them into a waterproof bin/bucket with some silica moisture absorbers. That may take care of that problem. I'm not sure, however, if the detergent will eventually eat through the gelatin outsides. I would contact the company who makes that particular detergent and inquire about the shelf life of those laundry pacs.

Red, If you keep them in a dry place they should be fine for at least 3 years. I have some that are from when they first started making them. They are perfectly fine in their original packaging. I store them in my basement where all my stockpile is. Its cool in the summer and cool in the winter. It stays about 55-60 degrees year round. HTH
