Definitely 12-14 for the first month or so. After that, I'd say around 7-9 until 5-6 months where for us it dropped to about 5. All 3 of my kids slept through the night by 4 weeks so no nightly changes after that.

i have a 6 wk old. at first we went through 15+. it seemed like as soon as i changed him, he'd poop again. there were some days were he'd go through well over half a pack a day! now i change him every time he eats (every 4-6 hrs). i stocked up on diapers but i realized that i got too many of one size. he is already outgrowing size 1 and he is well under 14 lbs...misleading weight guidelines *sigh*

On average, newborns go through about 10 diapers a day. That's the rule I always go by when stocking up for the first few months with a new baby. With the twins, it was twice that, so a newborn pack of 40 diapers lasted only 2 days!!

I have no idea with my first, but with logan, it was AWFUL....after his circucision, we had to gauze and vasaline him every diaper change....with my first, we used powder from the very first diaper after we finished the gauzing, but they had us take care of his circumcision differently. with logan, they told us to gauze until all the brown/tan was gone...different doctor, devin turned out fine, but we did as we were told...anyhow..logan POOPED LIKE CRAZY. I nursed him and seriously, EVERY time we changed him, we used 3 diapers, for like the first 3 months. I would change him when he needed it, and as soon as I got him cleaned off, and put the new diaper under him, he'd do the opposite of what I was changing his diaper for
and then he'd do it again after I got him cleaned up then. Well, I know my stories are hard to follow, but no matter how often you changed the poor thing, he pooped so much he was RED ALL THE TIME :o( so, after multiple calls to the dr and such and such, we were gooping him up so much every diaper change that we ended up changing him every half an hour for a couple of months. HOLY that took a knock at the stock of diapers I tell you. Anyhow...it got better, and now we use powder and it pulls the wet away...which is what I would have liked to have done from the begining like with my first.. (yes I know..I finally tied everything together) well his rash was so bad by the time we finally got something to work and make it better that powder didn't help.I don't know...you're having a girl, no circumcision to worry about with a little bit of powder (if you choose) you would probably get away with a diaper every hour or 2...come about 3-4 months, it's more like every 3-4 hours. Atleast that's what I did :o) Long story longer..I picked the 10-12 choice... :o) Hey...you asked ![]() ![]() and seriously...newborn diapers for me, only used about 2 packs I had porkers though...ones didn't last long either. they were in 2's for a bit, 3's not long at all and skipped to 4's pretty fast. but he's been in 4's for a few months now (chubby thighs) and my first son was the exact same way. :o) good luck...don't stress about it too bad..if you get too many of one size, just take it back and exchange for a bigger size...and a tip on that..when you go into another size, wait a little while to exchange the out grown ones, odds are good you've stocked up on the next couple of sizes anyway, so if you wait, you can get some of the bigger size you'll be in longer :o)ok..i'm going to bed...holy moly...sorry :o) |
