Anyone else think its rude to cancel last minute?? My mema got a head count last week and what everyone was bringing and someone cancelled the other day.

And now I find out my aunt canceled an hr ago and she was suppose to bring all the pie. So I get asked to bring the pie along with all the stuff I made last night.
So now I have to go to store and buy stuff to make THREE pies..

Ugh. At least she can do is drop the pies off since she isn't going bc her boyfriend is being a jerk.

Oh, I'm sorry this has all fallen on you at the last minute. It is inconsiderate to cancel unless it's unavoidable. And it's generally the "responsible" ones who are left having to take up the slack. I'm guessing your mema knows she can depend on you (thus the last minute request) so that says a lot about your own character I hope you're able to rest after the last minute rush.

JMO, but I'd be more sad that they couldn't come and I wouldn't get to see them. Holiday gatherings have always been about the fellowship and seeing family than the eating to me. Plus, there's always so much food left over anyway that I don't think it hurts when a few can't come.

However, if people are so adamant on having pies, it's probably best that a few are asked to bring a side and dessert so no one item is heavily relied on by one person.

I would just say: "Oh, I'm so sorry she can't come! I won't have time to make her portion, but I'll be there with all the food I said I'd make. "

Unless it was no trouble to make the pies, then I'd just make them.
