Most of the afternoon, outside did have a different look than a cloudy day or at dusk.

Creepy lol we had an no darkness but I noticed birds were quite and it dimmed like an old light bulb

Bless his heart!

Dh put some livestream show on, so the kids could watch totality hit in 50 million different cities. After the 3rd city, I was about to lose my ever-living mind.....cause they all showed and said the same things. I turned it off finally, once the kids were outside with their pinhole papers. Lol.

I DID expect it to be darker here....we had about 86/87% of the sun covered (there were blue patches of sky down by our neighbors' house....so I could see it stayed sunny).....but it wasn't too dark...not from the eclipse...just from clouds. Weird.

Those glasses terrify me! We didn't get any.

I had solar glasses, but they were recalled. I didn't trust them after that. I spent most of the afternoon outside, eating lunch on the back porch while it was slowly getting darker, and I was outside when totality occurred, but not looking at the sun.

I live in the path of totality. From what I'm hearing, all motel/hotel rooms in the entire region are booked.

No motel/hotel in my little town, but I'm interested to see what the tourist do in regards to showing up in my town or not. Since people are swarming the area tomorrow, that could be an indicator as to if they would show up here in a SHTF. I hope they are good tourist, and go to the big city and the college town to the stadium.
.
I guess with the heavy traffic on the interstates, some people decided to take the back roads into the area. Traffic was noticeably heavier than usual on my road this morning, but about normal this evening. No events were scheduled in my town, and it appears that it was about all pass through traffic, and since pass through traffic is very common on the road that I live on, I did expect some of it.

My cats just slept for their afternoon naps.

Well, good, Monkeystyle. Glad there weren't too many people swarminh. Some people seem to prefer to ne crowded in with all the other people, lol. We had a few events in our general area....but eh, I didn't want to be crowded. The kids did their school, we looked up some info on eclipses online, then it poured. Lol.

I DID get the kids to finish their schoolwork before lunch today! Yeehaw! Man, I was a STICKLER! The first week they did well....but last week we had days of them both working after rest time and up till dinner! Nononononononononono! Lol.

I didn't want to make dinner tonight. And I planned on burgers....but we have no buns and no bread in this house! I didn't want burgers without bread. I had thawed a lb of breakfast sausage for our sunday pm meal....forgetting all about the get together with church at a campground, and dinner there. So I made a dutch baby/pancake, fried the sausage slices, and a fruit salad. I also added flour and milk to the sausage grease, and made gravy for the morning. It won't have any meat in it, but it'll do. Lol. We'll need to make biscuits to go with....since we have no bread, lol.

I need to log into our bank and work on what we've spent/not spent, and also pay a bill. We have ONE BILL that is due somewhere around the 26/27/28 of the month. No other bills are due then, so often I forget it till it's too late! Argh! I wish it was due on the 1st or the week after the first....like most all of our other bills are!! (We have two bills due around the 13-17th, but one is on auto-pay, and the other I just pay around the 4-6th every month when I pay the other bills.)

I DO need to run to the grocery store, but I need to know what we have $-wise before I go, so I don't overspend! It's the last week and a half before the payday that our grocery money comes from....and so we're usually a bit tight by now.

I just realized....my sister will be here on sat!! This sat!! I need to clean up that spare room...lol. It's where all my books for sale reside! Eek! I have a wall of boxes, if I need them, and then books everywhere, in piles....piles of listed, piles of not listed, piles of someone is interested, and piles of sold books. Lol.

I asked dh to grab bread and hamburger buns on his way home today. Getting to the grocery store was NOT gonna happen for me. And all we NEEDED was bread or buns, lol. I'll make those burgers tonight + corn on the cob + ?. Need to pull some chicken from the freezer to thaw, too. They are whole chickens, so it'll be 2+ days before I can cook them.

Chili is good

Corn gives it a different taste..may try a taco soup tho in crockpot..think I have all ingredients for it.
I met my mom at park with kids collected rocks by river and crawdaddies small fish etc..they love it we also hid some more painted rocks.
I didn't end up making corn bread tho
We ended up making homemade laundry soap in 5 gallon bucket dd2 didn't nap so I'm hoping she'll sleep good. DH had follow up at Dr from mri..it's good no lasting issues but still in some pain ..tho he's released to go back to reg work
