Yesterday I decided that I would go in to the local WAGS to get some soda. I went and did the deal with one cashier and decided that I would come back after I went to the grocery store because it was lunch time and the store was crowded. The cashier was new as well and the manager decided that he wanted to stand behind him and watch every coupon that I gave him. Well I was trying to be nice but I wanted to break down my transaction so that I would have a smaller OOP and get all my RR for the soda. When I came back I knew I was going to have trouble b/c the one cashier that does coupons as well was at the register. The manager came up to me and said now you know if you use a RR it will not print another one for the soda. I just looked at him like he was dumb and did the deals anyway. Do you know that the cashier tried to keep my $4 RR from the Theraflu and Lipton deal. This is not the first time that she has done this. I asked her where was my RR and she looked like she was stupid. I knew I heard it print, so I looked at the catalina and there was my RR. I reached over and took my RR and then I had her ring up the Pepsi so that I could do the deal again. It kinda teed my of that she tried me like this. I knew that if I would have brought it to the attention of the manager that things would have been nasty for me, since he was watching so closely. I know now to go in the evenings when my fave cashiers (college students) and Asst manager is there. What would you have done in this situation.

I would still bring it up to the manager. Mention that it wasn't the first time this specific cashier has tried hiding it from you. Maybe they just need to watch her more closely, I've heard of cashier's keeping RR's for themselves.

This has happened to me plenty!!! at first my stores were not coupon friendly but they got used to me. I probably would have asked for the rr and would have not been nice so she could catch my drift. also talk to a manager. grrr i dont know why cashiers insist on acting like this. what difference does it make to them?

Maybe she is just a bit slow or just doesn't get the RR? I have had to ask for my RR before. Some cashiers just don't get the whole RR thing. I would say pick the other time to go. Avoid any trouble you can. They will get used to you. just takes time.

I don't think she was trying to hide it from you, I think that maybe she didn't know it would print. My RRs have been printing slowly all day today.

I keep getting a cat for a $24.99 oil change and ads for cats BEFORE my RRs print, so I end up standing there after I've been checked out waiting for them to print which they do. The cashiers just don't realize that there are RRs on some deals.

Now if she was taking the RR off of the machine and then telling you that you didn't get one, that's hiding it from you.

Oh no she saw that it had printed she was going to keep it for herself. She coupons herself so she know what they are used for. Last year when the free Irish spring was printing she tried to keep 2 of my catalinas then. I knew it was there b/c when I asked she looked down at it. I knew then that she was hiding it. I will just go in the evenings when DH is home and he will just have to watch the kids when I go.

Ahh.. well then you might want to mention something to the MGR. It's sad that customers have to go into a store only at certain times so they can make sure they are treated with respect.

I have the same problem with some Wags. There's one that I won't even step foot in. It's #2 in a line of 3 on my street. I'll go to #1, pass by #2 just to go to #3.

I would defintely say something, either to the manager, or call corp if the manager acts indifferent to the situation.
If this cashier is actually keeping the RR, then she is stealing, plain & simple.
Recently, at several stores in this area, 5 Walgreens employees (including one manager) were fired... they had been caught stealing RR, either keeping them as they print out, or just plain old swiping them out of the drawer (!!the nerve)
This was a big deal, all the cashier at the stores I frequent were all abuzz about it. After that, the stores really cracked down on the cashiers writing the transaction # on every RR that was taken in. I guess in their mind that deters theft? lol

Ugh. Sounds like the Mgr is part of the problem at this store. Is this the top dog Store Mgr? If not, I'd hunt up the Store Mgr and have a talk w/them. If this is the SM, I'd be going to corporate with both issues. The sneaky behavior of the cashier and the Mgrs lack of knowledge about how RRs work.

I'd ask the Store Mgr to place the Catalina machine facing out towards the customers like some other Walgreens do. One of our store even has a little sign (bright green) that says: "Don't forget your Register Rewards " It honestly has the happy face on it. I love it b/c there's not a question of "is it mine?" or not. Glad you are aware of what you should get from a purchase. I imagine many people are not and she does rack up some RRs doing that...which of course, is a form of coupon fraud, in my opinion.
