How To Use RR
Quote:
There have been a bunch of questions about how to use RR lately, so I wanted to make a post filled with as much into as possible so that everyone here is using RR properly -- and keeping WUC honest.
The wording on RR is as follows: Void on prescriptions and items prohibited by law. Also excludes tobacco, alcoholic beverages, sales tax, lottery tickets, money orders/transfers, transportation passes, postage stamps, dairy, prescription savings club membership, healthy care services and gift/phone/prepaid cards. Coupon value cannot exceed the number of items in the transaction. Register Rewards must be forfeited if qualifying merchandise is returned. Customer pays any sales tax. Coupon may not be bought, reproduced, transferred or sold. No cash value. No cash back.
So, whats that all mean? Let's break it down.
One] You must have at least as many items as coupons. RR are manu. coupons. So, if you were trying to buy, say, one item and had a coupon and a RR you wanted to use, that's one item and two coupons, so the register will not allow it. You need to throw in a filler, for two items and two coupons, and you'll be fine.
Two] RR cannot be used on certain items, like gift cards. They used to be, but not anymore. If you were trying to use an item that was excluded, the RR would not be able to go through. Also, in the exclusions is dairy, and that means you can't use it on milk, which many people try to do.
Three] Your non-tax total must exceed the RR amount. You cannot buy a $3.99 item and try paying for it with a $4 RR, because RR cannot be adjusted down and cannot be used to pay for tax.
Four] RR cannot be "daisy chained." If you get a RR for one family of products, and you use it to buy products from the same family, you won't get a RR for the second trip if you pay with the first RR. For example, if a Venus Embrace razor is $5 with $5 RR, you can buy it once and then get the RR. But then say, Crest toothpaste is 2/$5 with $5 RR. If you buy the Crest and pay with the Venus RR, you will not get the RR for the Crest because they're both Proctor and Gamble products. If you do, say, use that RR to buy Coke that gives RR, you will get the Coke RR since Coke is not a P&G product.
Five] Sometimes the catalina machine is not working. You CAN use a coupon on an item and still get the RR. Many cashiers are misinformed on this. If the RR does not print and the cashier is using your coupons as an excuse, that's wrong. Make sure the cat machine is on.
Six] If you buy two of the same item in one transaction, RR will only produce for one item. If you're trying to do the same deal twice, you need to break it into two transactions.
Seven] Just like coupons, RR have an expiration date.
If you have any trouble with a RR not printing, call the catalina company at 1-888-8coupon, option 3.
