Default Walmart Customer Service Rant

So in Walmart, the Sweet Baby Ray's dipping sauces are $1.88.

Recently, a $2/1 coupon came out for them, which would make each bottle free + 12c overage.

The coupon is limit 2 per transaction so I sent my hubby to grab 2 bottles, along with other groceries.

He comes home and tells me the coupon only took off $1.50 (which I knew it was doing but I was hoping he'd pay more attention and tell the cashier)

Anyhoo, I tell him to go back and get the $1 he's owed. The associate at customer service says he isn't getting any money back because he "wasn't supposed to use the coupon on the item anyway since the coupon value is over 75% of the item's value"

UM WHAT?

I was like WTF? *sigh* So I called corporate and they said to expect a call within 1-3 business days from the store's manager.

Normally I wouldn't care. It's just a dollar. But if they still haven't been called out on their lack of knowledge of their own coupon policy yet, it makes me wonder how many other people they've basically stolen from.

I can see them only allowing the coupon to deduct the amount of the item, but to reduce it arbitrarily to $1.50 for an item that is $1.88 when the coupon was for $2? That's pretty weird, especially since the marketing company is reimbursing them for the full sale price. Something is not right here.

I shake my head in befuddlement. stores are just as guilty of coupon fraud as some of the couponers they point their finger at

Meijer does the same thing. They "adjust" a MC down to the actual price of an item but yet get full reimbursement from the manu for that sold product.

But in defense of their practice, I STILL get the item for free. case in point: The $1.50 off Biotene -no size restrictions- was able to get 12 of the travel/trial size of this product for free but Meijer will submit those 12-$1.50 MC and "earn" an extra $6 bucks from the manu.

Wow. It never occurred to me that WM would accept Catalinas from competitors. I have a slew of them from Safeway, including one that's for $3 off a tube of Tom's of Maine toothpaste. I walk by Safeway pretty much every day and you'd be amazed at the number of Catalinas I find discarded on the ground. I usually get one or two when I shop there, but I have a pile of the discards.

It's good to know that they still allow overage. Target generally discontinued this, although you can still manage it in those rare instances where you combine MQs CW and a category coupon. Otherwise, their system automatically adjusts down the value of the discount.
