Walmart Neighborhood Market closing

On 1/10 WM 4149 in Charlotte NC stated it will close in March 2017. This is my first time experiencing a closing WM store. Its sad since the store open in 2013. Right now everything is 25% off. I saw some Christmas clearance items and they were full price and additional 25% off. I also heard you can't use Manufacturer coupon when the store is closing is this true?

thanks for sharing!
~not sure about the not using coupons on store closing clearance, if the store manager says no, I guess that would be the decider.

When done properly, everyone benefits from couponing!

One thing about WM that always surprises me is that they seem to think nothing of spending a bunch of money to construct new stores that they will close in only a few years. The stores often stay empty afterwards. That they can afford to absorb that kind of loss for such an extended time says a good deal about the extent of their profits.

There used to be 3 stores near us. Then one city passed a law raising its minimum wage to $15. Well, WalMart couldn't have that, so they made an announcement and closed their store in that city in less than 30 days. Now we only have two left. The cost of living around here is so high that a $15 wage is barely enough to scrape by on, but, well, you get the picture. Not a very nice company in terms of human resource policies.

Rural communities that have had mom and pop stores run out of business by the competition of a new WalMart get to deal with the fun of no more WalMart after they've moved in and done the damage and then with little warning, pulled up stakes for greener pastures. I shop there infrequently, in part, because of this, and because I have plenty of alternatives -- lots of Targets and local discount stores. I realize that many people don't have this luxury.

Thanks for the heads up about no coupon for liquidation sales policy. It's good to know for future reference. The last time I went to WM, in December, I tried to use some insert manufacturer's coupons for the correct object (image on the coupon) and they wouldn't scan, so they told me I couldn't use them. I asked that those items be deleted from my order. It used to be easier to use coupons there, but now it's so annoying that I rarely shop there.

I go to Walmart literally once a year lol. It's the only place where I can get the bigger sized jars of Palmer's cocoa butter at a decent price. I buy 2, and then typically do not set foot in Walmart again until I need more the following year.

I used to go there for canning jars, but generally, Target has sales that undercut WM and on occasion, even the Orchard Supply Hardware chain has half price sales that make it easy to avoid getting them at WM. WM has also adopted the practice of selling Mainstays, their in house (Made in China) brand as a substitute for the Kerr/Ball brand in certain jar sizes. I'd rather wait and get an American brand for the same price or less. Kerr/Ball (Jarden Home Brands) are based in Indiana.

I ask the manager I can use a Manufacturer coupon. Sometimes the store won't allow MFR coupon if a store closes, maybe they don't get credit.

They should allow you to use manufacturer coupons, because a Walmart store doesn't process coupons in-store. They just count them the same as they count money, and then the coupons are packaged up and sent to either the Walmart offices or a coupon processing center. In either case, Walmart will still receive payment for the coupons.

This wm was the 1st neighborhood market to open & the 1st location to ever close its doors for good. I heard it was because of financial reasons. But there are 2 other Supercenters that are 5-10 minutes away & 1 neighborhood market also I think there are other Walmart in other cities going further down. Its sad because this WM is easy to shop at since there's a clothing store, Asian market, tool store, and DG that shares the shopping center. Its going to empty in March. I hope or wish ALDI can take over the building!

I don't get much from WM but the basic items that I need. I know when I was in AR that would be my family main place to shop at, only had 2-3 grocery store. Thankful that HT is in NC...I couldn't move again. Lots of ppl shop at WM I just can't shop there without a sale or coupon.
