Default some questions

Hi
I was considering maybe starting weight watchers. I was wondering if you guys actually sign up for the program you pay for, or if you just make it work yourselves. I've been told you can just DIY, I just wouldn't have a clue where to start. I know you use points, but I don't know how many per day, etc, and what exactly the system is. I'd really prefer not to spend the money on membershipIs there anyone who could give me some pointers or kinda steer me in the right direction please? TIA

Hey Jeana...sorry I did not see this until now! My posts aren't highlighting right for ones that I haven't read yet for some reason.

I've been doing WW since early August and go to the meetings every week. DH and I have lost over 70lbs between the 2 of us!!! I'm down 36 and he's down 35 right now.

Honestly? DH tried using the materials a friend shared with him on his own before we began doing this. Now you may be better, but he failed miserably. There's just something about that accountability of weighing in each week that's worked so well for us. And I'm not sure if you can find the slider thing that figures the points out for you - ebay maybe? They also have books that tell you how many points the items are. Try looking on www.weightwatchers.com and see if you can look up how many points you are allotted for your height and weight without being a member. It's possible that's available to you!

I personally cannot live without WW etools that help me track my points and is part of their program. DH and I talked about it just last night and I told him even after I reach my goal weight I'm paying for that sucker each month for as long as I'm able to just to stay on track Every morsel that goes in my mouth is counted and for me that's been the key. I've tried just about everything out there before this...sparkpeople, other online trackers and for me they didn't work. But everyone is different and something for you to check into as well!

Good luck!

I agree that going to the meetings are better for me than trying to do it on my own. Good luck!

I tried losing weight on my own but it never happend. I joined WW in Sept of 07 and have lost about 80lbs and am now a 1 yr. Lifetime Member:+) I try to go to meetings when I can, but I still weigh in EVERY week, even though I only have to WI once a month. Driving the 15 minutes to a WI place is worth it to me even if I can't stay for the meetings. It make me feel that I need to be accountable to someone else, not just myself.

I started out in Sept 07 weighing 211 lbs. I'm only 5'2 and I'm not getting any taller so losing weight was my only option:+) I've lost about 75-80 lbs ( depending on the week:+) but have still maintained lifetime status. I started out in a size 20-22 and am now a size 2-4:+) Sorry if I'm blabbering, I'm just proud:+)

I use the WW point system and do not go to meetings. I lost about 58 lb and DH lost about 20 lb over a period of about 18 mos. We just got back on the program after having been off for a year or so.

I am not good at attending meetings and also cannot seem to part with the money each week. DH is worse than me about meetings. Doing it together is a real advantage. We also try to do some walking at the mall together.
