Default Thinking Of Making Bagels! Any tips?

Hi everyone:

I'm thinking of trying my hand at making bagels. Any tips or recipes from anyone that's done it before?

The ones made at home are usually baked and they do come out more dense than those at a bakery. I don't have the patience to boil then bake them. It's easier to buy them. I threw away my recipe because it was a pain-in-the-butt!

I've made them. The kids loved them. Just search for a recipe on google. That's what I did. I didn't think it was a mess to boil them. They turned out fine.

I want to try to make the bagels, and get back into making fresh bread. I guess I'll have to set aside the time to prep, boil, and then bake. It does seem time consuming, but hopefully they'll taste just like or better than the bagged or bakery bagels!

Thanks! I've looked at a few recipes and they sound interesting. I've gotten some yeast for free (scan right guarantee). I saw a stuffed bagel recipe that looks good and I saw an episode a while back on the Cooking Channel that looked delicious. I don't know if it would be too ambitious to start with doing stuffed bagels as opposed to regular bagels.

I just may start with regular bagels. Do you make them on a regular basis? Have you made stuffed bagels?

Nope never made stuffed bagels and to tell the truth I haven't thought about making plain bagels in a while. You may get me started again!
