Questionmark Cabbage rolls, What are you making with cabbage?

With all of the great deals on cabbage right now, I have been making cabbage rolls for dinner and for the freezer.

What are you making with cabbage? Looking for other great ideas.

I love what we call "Boiled Dinner". It's a hambone with some meat on it or smoked hocks in a stock pot with some onion, add water, black pepper and bring to a boil, cook for a bit, add sliced carrot and cook for about 10 more minute. Add chopped cabbage and cook just until a bit soft. It's really good. Seriously. Just don't over cook the cabbage or it will start to get skunky.

I know a lot of people will make sour kraut, but I don't really like it. Boiled Dinner, though, yum! Simple and cheap!

I haven't noticed the prices. But I will be making corned beef and cabbage for st pattys day. If I can get it cheap I will shred some and freeze for stir fry and coleslaw. That's about all I do with it.. lol

Never thought about freezing for using in stir-fry. Excellent idea. How long does it last in the freezer?

I do not like it either but the boiled dinner sounds YUM. It's still cold here so that should warm the belly up

I have kept some for around 4-5 months in a vacuum sealed bag. I would guess it could go a year if kept that way.

Most amazing recipe from my CSA. Fry bacon-put it on towel to drain. Chop one and a half onions-cook in bacon grease for a few mintes. Add a shredded head of cabbage, a pinch of sugar and salt and pepper to taste. Cooks down in less than 10 minutes. Top with crumbled bacon. It is off the hook delicious.
