I'm new to this site and the extreme couponing world. I've always used coupons when shopping, but not get $200.00 worth of groceries for $5.00 and to be honest, I don't quite understand how they're doing it. To my understanding it is this:
1) Purchase a couple of my Sunday news papers to obtain the coupons. 2) Cut out the coupons I will use. 3) At this point, I'll have two of the exact same coupon for each item. 4) Find a grocery store that allows me to double up on my coupons for each item. 5) example: If a buy a can of crescent rolls, price is $1.29. I have a coupon that saves $.50, double the coupon at the register and my purchase price will be $.29. Is this how everyone is doing it? 6) What stores allows you to use two of the exact same manufacturer's coupon on one product? 7) Finally, can you use more than two of the exact same manufactures coupon for one item? I really appreciate any feed back! |

hello newbie
Yes that's pretty much how it works. Where i live my giant eagle will allow me to get up to 12 of the same item. I buy 6 papers every weekend and sort out the coupons in a binder. |

You cannot use two coupons on the same product unless it is a store coupon and a manufacturers coupon.
The way to do it is combine the store deals with the coupons. |

Doubling coupons does not mean using 2 manufacturer coupons on 1 item!!! You are never allowed to do that.
Stores that double a coupon are basically matching the coupon as a 'store coupon'. So you need to find a store that does this. If you tell us what stores you have available I'm sure someone can chime in. There are also stores that allow you to stack coupons. Target is an example. You can use a manufacturer q and a target q on 1 item =) mommy to Emma Laila and Abigail

. (As an additional note, please remember that the show "Extreme Couponing" is a reality show and things are done on a much grander scale for the effect on the viewer. While these deals are out there, they are not the "norm" as I know it at least. . . but still a great show that we DVR every week now. ) mommy to DD1 DD2

Some of the deals seen on tv are grocery store promotions, where you get instant $ off for buying a certain amount of a product, or getting catalina coupons at the register for saving OYNO, On Your Next Order. In addition to store sales and coupons, some stores also have reusable bag credits, where they take cents off for every reusable bag you bring with you.
As sanfordchef stated, you can only use one coupon per item, unless your store has their own coupon they will let you combine with the manufacturer coupon. and Mommy to a little mother hen (dd10 years) and a little night owl (dd2 years)

Well I clip every coupon. With walmart's new overage you never know what is going to be a money maker. Also you never know what is going to be on the clearance racks. I don't use them cause they are so expensive, BUT I had $3.00 off coupons for I think it's air wick crystals the refill bags. My walmart had them clearanced for $3.00. So now I have 4 free bags of them. If I end up not liking them they can always go in a gift basket of freebies for friends. Also for anything I can get free but I will not use or I have enough in my stockpile I donate to the local facility for the mentally handicapped. We all have our favorites to donate whether it's food banks, woman's shelters, children's homes, etc. For little or mostly nothing out of pocket we help a lot of people.

Thank you all so much for the prompt replies. Stores that are near me are Kroger, Wal-Mart, Publix, SaveALot (never been to it), and Food Lion. Okay, so I cannot use two Mani Q's, I MUST use one Mani Q and one store coupon in order to double the coupon. However, I still don't see how it works out. The majority of coupons I receive in the Sunday paper are; save $.40 off "two" cans of crescent rolls (this would only be a $.80 cents saving off approximately $4.00 or save a $1.00 of "two" packages of Land O Lakes Butter. Also, I've noticed many have said their grocery store will double the face value of the coupon. Meaning if I had a coupon for $.50, the store would give me any additional $.50 cents off, total savings of $1.00. I've used many coupons in the past but I've never had a store give me "extra" savings?? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks Again for ALL The Replies

it would be easy for me to do an extreme couponing trip during the mega event b/c i have krogers that dbl to $1.. my best yet is $786 worth of grocery/non grocery items for $58.. and that's not even as good as they do on the show, but i was very proud,
..every area has different stores.. you will need to check out all the stores in your area to see what their coupon policies are, print the policy in case you ever need it.. and also check to see if they have store promotions. |
