Imnewhere North Carolina Couponer

Greetings and Salutations everyone! I'm new to this site, and somewhat new to the wild world of couponing. I got into it several years ago, but not hardcore... most I ever saved was $50 on a $150 ticket, which at the time was very impressive to my husband. Life, and lack of time got in the way... but I am ready to go again, and this time I'm way more motivated and since we are empty nesters, have WAY more time to put into it.

I'm enjoying the "getting organized" phase, just completed my price book that I'm looking forward to keeping updated. I'm figuring out my system that seems to be working fine.

My issue is that here in NC, the coupon policies seem to be much more strict. It's a little exhausting. ex: I tried to use a coupon that said "ANY SIZE, ANY VARIETY" on the smallest size package, but the coupon wouldn't work bc the "numbers" didn't match.

I'm excited to learn from you all and can't wait to report on a growing stockpile and tremendous savings!

hey dear, I am in NC in the Fayetteville area. I am still learning and I need to do it because I got 3 kids under the age of 5 lol so this will be good for us to stock pile on stuff so when they hit their teens.....

Hey if you got any tips for me send them over I know I wish we had better policies here, I mostly shop at Food Lion, what stores do you have where your at? All the coupons I get here all say strictly DO NOT DOUBLE. My biggest save was 30 on a 104 last night. I really need to get organized. What is this price book you have?

Hello and welcome. I am here in NC as well...Fort Bragg. I am doing very well with this whole coupon trend. I do have a stock pile (not in the open). I do coupon trips in portions, this gets me out of the house.

Default Couponing in NC

Hello, I am from NC (charlotte area) and just started couponing about a month ago. The first couple of weeks were slow because I didn't have very many coupons but the last two weeks I have started saving anywhere between 55% to 98%.

A lot of it is due to Harris Teeter having their "Triple Coupon" special. I also have found GREAT deals at Walgreens and CVS. Food Lion isn't fantastic for couping. You do get great deals when you combine coupons with their B1G1 specials as you can use a coupon for each item.

Do you have a Lowe's Foods or Harris Teeter in your area? These are where you get some fantastic deals BUT you have to be patient and combine it with sales. That is a general rule for couponing, combine it with specials, so you have to shop at multiple stores and watch the ads like a hawk. Hope this helps.

Welcome

Welcome, from Cherry piont. I have had had lots of issues geting coupons, our base paper has a Smart Sourse, but I get up too late on sunday, all the papers are sold out by like 6. I have to go to the library to print b/c my printer is always messed up. But I an getting there. I will be having much more time to devote to my couponing soon. The hubbie is going to deploy. I will be spending much of my time on learning and price matching at my Wal-Mart. If you have any tips. I would love to hear them. There are several newbies here, and few vets.

Thank You So Much! It has become abundantly clear that it may be impossible to be an "Extreme Couponer" in North Carolina... at least in and around Raleigh. It's not my goal anyway, nor is having my own mini mart, but if I could consistently hover around 75% - 80%, I would be uber happy! Must get intimately familiar and update my pricebook with each stores coupon policy regularly. Frequent trips on my way home from work I think will do the trick. Just this week I've noticed a stacked store sale ending that day, so I rushed on over!

Congrats on the big save last night mindyalyy! To answer your question, stores in my area are:

Lowes Foods (Website ez to navigate and plan your trip. They DO double up to .99)

Food Lion (Prolly best retail prices around, so I WILL watch the sales like a HAWK!)

Kroger (Haven't spent much time on their website, but I WILL... OH YES... I WILL!)

Walmart (They price match AND you can stack!)

Harris Teeter (YES, their triple Q week just ended... whoopie... big deal... Their Retail $ is usually higher and they ONLY double/triple .99, NOT $1.00 doubled to $2.97. YES you can save money, but it seems to be to much of a hassle there)

CVS & Walgreens

I certainly feel welcome here at WUC! And GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!

Hello and welcome to WUC!

I used to live in Johnston County, but have recently moved to Craven County!

I wish you well on your couponing, I'm just getting started too, and haven't found that much time to put into find freebies! But I have been saving more money, so I take what I can get!

But anyway, Welcome to the site! And Good Luck with your couponing!
