I'll be traveling with family to Houston, TX for two weeks in July. I was hoping some Wuckies from that area might have some suggestions for some good eating while we are there!
THANKS!! |

PF Changs is super or The Capital Grille, there both off Westheimer...
It just depends where in Houston you are going. |

We travel all over Houston area... but we live in off of Westheimer within walking distance of the Galleria. We really like PF Changs! I'll have to write down the Capital Grille!

Oh...are any of the restaurants on Restaurants.com any good? I haven't heard of any of them... but the GC on that site are currently 80% with code, so wouldn't mind trying a few...and save a few $$!!

We just got back from Houston. We ate at a restaurant called Phil's Roadhouse Grill. It's in Montgomery. OMG their hamburgers are fantastic. We also ate fried mushrooms and onion rings. We ate there twice, and I ordered the same thing. lol
Prices were pretty reasonable and you got a lot of food. ![]() |

#1- Chuy's...to me, this is the BEST tex mex EVER. When they bring your chips, ask for creamy jalapeno dip for it (FREE) . Really, you could just fill up on that. It's DELICIOUS. This one you must go to. My family demands to go there each time they visit now. It is ALWAYS busy...a sign of a great restaurant! You can eat there for about $10-$12 adult (i'm including drinks on that). Order light b/c you will fill up on chips.
Pappadeaux is very good- it's cajun/seafood and it has a little more upscale feel. I always want to be a little nicer dressed when I go there (I think you are not allowed to have a tank top on in there...I read that on the sign last time I was there a month or two ago...something to remember b/c it is hot here and you migth be wearing one). I do not like's Pappa's bbq or Little Pappasitos (the other restaurants run by this family). They ok...but other places do the same things better. Pappadeaux definitely has the cajun seafood mkt cornered for me. I can eat there for $10-$15 but I eat lighter...like Tilapia with sides. The fried foods are cheaper, too. Saltgrass Steakhouse- they have a lunch menu which is cheaper. It is just a very Texas restaurant with steak, grilled chicken, baked or sweet potatoes, salads, etc. I've never had a bad meal there and I think I've had almost everything on the menu. It would be about $10-$15/person IF YOU REALLY WANNA SPLURGE, I have been to Fogo De Chao- Argentinian or CHilean ?) steakhouse. It's VERY expensive, but sometimes you wanna splurge on vacations. We have been there for company CHristmas parties. It's about $80 a person at night but it's all you can eat. They bring out expensive cut sof meat on swords...it's an experience. Ruth's Chris is also good, you would look to spend $50/person. Both of these places I would not take kids. There is also an upscale place called "Taste of Texas" that I would feel ok taking kids. It's the same kind of stuff as saltgrass, just more upscale. It would be $40-$50/person. People also seem to love the Melting Pot (a fondue place) but I have never been. It might be fun to just do dessert there one day. |

jaydensmommy- I dunno about the restaurant.com stuff for Houston, but all of the restaurants for my area are not a place I would want to go to even with the discount. just weird places that seem to go out of business quckly in my experience. I live in a suburb, so it might be diff. in Houston.
