We live in South Korea and they do not use dryers over here which is fine, I dont mind hanging out clothes out. my problem is though our towels still smell so weird after they dry. Does anyone have any ideas on how to wash and dry towels and they not smell like they need to be washed again? Thanks!!

I wonder if the new Downey unstoppables (I think that is what it is called) would help. You put it in your washer before you add your clothes and it is suppose add fragrance that lasts?? I am not sure if I have the right exact wording there. You might check Downey's website. I also wonder about using some febreeze in your wash. I have never done this, maybe someone else would know. It might be worth a try on the towels. HTH!

I have always used vinegar in the smelly clothes. It seems to do a pretty good job at getting stinky smells out of fabric.

I guess it depends where the smell is coming from....I have not used my dryer since the first of March...I add scented fabric softner in the washer and I also like to use a detergent with a similar smell. I also find that I have to hand the clothes out fairly quickly and not leave them in the washer to long once they are washed. Other than the towels still being a little "stiff" I do not have any complaints.....and the savings on my electric bill is quite noticeable.

I would wash them with the vinegar as the other writer suggested to make sure there is not some odor that your detergent is not removing -- then make sure to hang them where they will get good and dry, and faster rather than slower so that you are not getting any mildew in the towels. If this doesn't get the job done, you may need to get some of those "fast-drying" towels. JC Penney and other large retailers sell them. Good luck!

I try not to use my dryer in the summer. I use liquid softener and a little vinegar. I found that depending on which way the wind is blowing determines some of the "scents" on my towels. It seem to me that towels and sheets tend to trap whatever is in the air. Next yr a flower bed is going in close to the clothes line!

Okay so if I sound stupid just tell me..how do I was clothes in vinegar? I've never heard of that before! I do pull them out of the wash as soon as they are done and I use the downy fabric softner that smells good. I will try the vinegar stuff though..Vinegar works wonders on everything :P OH and my dryer lines are inside a little room with just a screen door on it because we live in apartments. And I've never heard of fast drying towels..I'm going to look those up now. Thank you so much ladies!!

So the electricity in S.Korea is SO expensive. Using the AC for one month our electric bill was over 800 dollars. Thats with only running it at night and on the weekends. Since Koreans try to be conservative they have washer/dryer combos...but they dont have vents on them so its almost like the washer cooks your clothes. I tried to use the washer/dryer a few times andit did not work out at all. My clothes were just wet and hot after the dryer finished with them.

Vinegar is a wonderful way to get the smell out of clothes. I use it when my towels start getting smelly. It is also a great fabric softner!

Add anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1 cup of vinegar to the wash with your detergent. There will be no more smells nor will your clothes smell like vinegar as it rinses out.

If your clothes smell good out of the washer but are smelly after drying the vinegar is not going to do you any good. Vinegar is good for getting existing smells out but it wont help keep smells from getting in them during drying. I have no idea really because it is whatever is in the air that is hitting them while they are drying. Maybe try hanging them up in the house?
