a close friend of mine just lost her dad and lives in MD...I want to do something, send flowers, something to show her I feel her pain and that I love her, but the prices on the flowers you can arrange via internet are $$$$...does anyone have a discount code they know or a place I could call in the baltimore area that doesn't charge an arm and a leg? thank you all in advance!

What about a Lowes or Home Depot giftcard??? She could get a tree and plant it in honor of her dad?? Or sometimes the National Arbor Foundation will mail you little trees for like $15 I think it is .... or I would GOOGLE flower shops and look for a mom & pop. HTH!!

I think a heart felt card tellihg her how much you love her, etc. might mean more than flowers.
If you'd like to send flowers though...I look up flowershops through the yellow pages on-line (Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM) and call them directly. You have less fees that way, and you can tell them how much you want to spend and what you'd like them to look like. ![]() ♦ Life is too short to be anything but happy. ♦ It's a good day to have a good day. ♦

I agree about a card. Maybe a little gift just for her? This would be easy to make and very cheap! Plus it would mean so much more then flowers!

You could also consider sending a gc for a local grocery store so getting more food will be easier during this time.
I know when my Daddy died last year, I was so sad when the flowers began to die, too...My aunt made little potpourri sashes (sp?) from the dried flower petals. She also saved all of the ribbons from the flower arrangements and used those to tie them shut. I guess what I am trying to say is - consider getting a small gift instead of flowers. Something to help her remember her father and the time they spent together. Maybe a picture frame that is engraved or a collage picture frame that she could select pictures of her dad or of her and her dad to put inside to look at whenever she is sad. I know have several pictures of my dad around the house. It has really helped us all with the grieving process to see his face more! |
