Default Help, How do you get rid of woodpeckers?

I live in a log home out in the country. I know I have to put up with wild life and such.....

But seriously, I have a very confused woodpecker that will not leave my home alone!!!! He is destroying my house!!! How do I get him to leave my house alone? Shooting him has crossed my mind.......but I don't need a bullet hole in my home he has done enough damage!!!!!

Have you thanked Jesus or a service member today???

Tam

Place several decoy hawks or owls around your house or on the roof. These birds are natural predators to other birds. And other birds will stay away from them. But the problem all birds will stay away. If you go this route you can get them or order them threw you locale farm store. Or go on line.

It's not just log homes they like...we had 1 that loved to "peck" on the roof vents. There is nothing like that tink tink tink we would hear everyday.
Have you thought about putting out bird feeders? We did and the bird quit pecking the vents. I am still not sure if it is because we started feeding the birds or if a hawk got him...I hope the hawk got a tasty meal.

I would contact you local game warden. They can do Soooo much damage. They pecked the windows right out of someone's cabin I know. Maybe they would come and cage it and then relocate it. I think it us against the law to shoot them t least it us here in Michigan. Good luck...

you might want to call an exterminator. They eat bugs or grubs and they could be living under your siding. I have one pesky woodpecker that insists on going after one particular spot on my house. I have nailed up a fake snake near the spot and he hasn't come back since. We also have an owl decoy in the nearby tree.
