Some people say that it is hard to cloth diaper newborns (esp. if they are small) because the diapers will be bulky. Others say it is okay and easy to cloth diaper even the smaller babies. I just don't want to buy a whole bunch of diapers at every stage. There are some one size fits all diapers that seem to work from 8 lbs to potty training. It is definitely a lot of read and learn about
My DD was premature (4 lbs. 12 ozs.) and it was a little difficult to CD her when I first brought her home but after she gained some weight it was much easier.

I don't know how much you are paying to have them "made" but these are a cheaper version of the bumgenius 3.0's Nubunz Diapers it's definitely worth a try at only 8.95 a diaper i think, and I believe you can get it slightly cheaper on ebay.

When I have kids I want to put them in cloth diapers too! All of my brothers and myself were all raised on cloth diapers and our pediatrician who's renowned and now the head of Pediatrics at one of the big hospitals here ALWAYS commended my mom for using cloth diapers. Not only for the money aspect, but also since we NEVER EVER had diaper rash or skin issues or anything like that. My mom used disposables when we went out just for convenience (since you need to flush everything out right then and there, which could be an issue)

We got lucky that in our area we had a diaper service. You flushed everything out obviously, but they came once a week to take them back to REALLY clean and sterilize them and bring fresh ones. It wasnt that expensive either (like $15-20 a week maybe and it was unlimited, which was good since there were 2 of us in diapers at a time)

So fresh and so much better then disposables on many levels! I will forever sing the praises of cloth diapers and I'm not even a Mom, just from how grea tthey were when I was growing up!
