Last saturday on my to work I got a phone call from my sister saying my 18 month old daugher is going to the emergency room because my other daugher accidentally slammed the door in her finger so I called my manager crying and telling him I can't come in. After we spent all afternoon in the ER dept we finally go home ( my baby is doing good, just some stitches and week followup appt) I call my work and ask one of the supervisors what time I go in on Wednesday and he tells me he'll call me back. 10 mins later he said I have 7 1/2 points (we only get up to 8 points for call ins,) which means am suspended from work until Thursday. Ugh am scared that am not actually suspended but fired and the supervisor didn't want to tell me over the phone. I've been there over three years. My bf said if they were going to fire me they would do it asap and not wait until Thursday, that made me have a little hope. I just need some advice on how not to stress over it. I have been stressing since yesterday.. : ( thanks for letting me vent..

Get a doctor note from the ER that states the time and date your daughter was there. If they fire you apply from umemployment.

They are suspending you for taking your baby to the ER ??? No offense but sounds like a place I wouldn't want to work at anyway... I know though that jobs are tough to come by and you have to take what you can get but my god what a jerk !

Yes my supervisor is bad but I like working there. I am only part time and work 3 days week so I know I can't get unemployment.

I would look for a job elsewhere. my guess is that if the supervisor in charge does not have kids, this may always be a problem with supervisor anytime something happens to your family.
I realize there are alot of cold and unkind bosses, but this one beats all. There is a better job out there for you. No one deserves this type of unfriendly treatment, especially after a proven 3 year work record. we all have lives outside of our job... this employer needs to get updated into the year 2012. ![]() Lucky 2 B A Wuckie! |

I agree with the pp. if they can't be somewhat sympathetic you don't need to be there. I don't have children but I remember when my mon had a job that didn't let her leave when I was sick at school. She just told them her children are more important than a job that can be replaced and quit. Jobs can be replaced!

Worry is like a rocking chair - it gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere.
Also, what is the worst thing that can happen? You lose that income. It's only a part-time position and you were already on the bubble for call ins, so there must have been some underlying issues as to why you weren't able to work the schedule without calling in, so maybe it's not meant to be. Whatever happens, happens. |

The way I live my life is to believe in what is going to happen will happen. Everything happens for a reason and so if he WAS going to fire you, it would happen anyway, and there is nothing you can do to prevent that. Keep your head up! Some people just have bad days and take it out on anything they can. If it doesn't work out the way that you want it to-something else will come your way!
As a side note, I'm glad your baby is safe! |

Well the op didn't say where she works but it is just what wally does to its employees
and the dr. note don't mean nothing. they have had people fired while they were in the hospital. not a good place to work but we don't have a choice sometimes on where we spend our money. |

If you only worked part time you would make just about as much if you kept one child in your home. I know that night workers always are in dire need of child care and they will pay better for you to watch their children sleep.
