O this year I decided to give my parents and my siblings family (I have one brother and one sister) gift from my stockpile. Like toilet paper, paper towels and a bunch of hba stuff ( finally got rid of my ky's which they were all happy to get) lol hardly made a dent in my stockpile and the baskets were huge flower pots that they can use. The total of each basket came to maybe $6 each. But everyone of my family members ( including nieces and nephews) loved them. They said they were the most useful thoughtful gifts they all got this year. I made each one to personalize their family, it was fun for me and they loved them. Total win win for everyone!
A few days later I had to bring the kids to hockey and also needed to make my grocery list so I brought all my inserts with and sat at a table while the kids were waiting to get on the ice. Everyone gave me a strange look because i guess when u have kids ini hockey, u should be able to afford everything. And I had to admit at first i was kinda embarrassed but the I realized that they were paying full price for everything. I asked the kids ift they were embarrassed by me doing it at hockey and my son was little but mu daughter was like " nope u dont embarrass me, i got a newly remodeled room and get to be here because of that, coupon on mom!" Shes kinda a nerd but i think she has learned alot from me.And she realizes we werent like the ones that were trying to keep up with jones were also taking out loans to put their kids in hockey or were in major debt. Shes smart for being 8. So coupons have made me be able to put my kids in a sport that they love and my daughter who is 8 is already hoping to get a scholarship for college with hockey and she is very good at it. I also saved all my receipts from last year and figured out how much I saved and spent. I spent 1469.43 and saved 5679.03. So I saved as much as I have been making part time inthw past. Couponing has made life easier for us and let us do more and stay active with the kids, sometimes we make a family event which is fun to. I'd love to thank this group as I could not have done it with out you guys! My new years resolution is save even more. Bring on the new year! |

Great gifts and great story! I really love your daughters outlook on couponing. Smart girlie!! Personally, I think the people paying full price should be embarased. LOL People that don't coupon just don't get it and for the most part, their only understanding of it is from a certain show that shall remain nameless. So, we shall continue to "coupon on" :-) and the others can continue to get loans to keep up with whoever they want.

When I take my girls to the roller skating rink, I bring all my qs with me and cut them, good use of 3 hours
I've even had people comment about what a great idea it is to do that.Sounds like you have some smart and talented kids, you should be very proud ![]() |

I agree with you. I don't care what people think about me and my coupons. It used to embarrass my oldest daughter (and she is going to be 27 this year!), but now she takes me shopping every two weeks so she can use my coupons. Of course, she still buys certain brands whether or not it is on sale and with or without a coupon. It just kills me. And my youngest daughter who lives in FL thinks it is a waste of time. But she is expecting her first baby March 1st so I have started sending her baby coupons and she seems to be thankful. I think eventually she might change her tune when she sees how much baby stuff costs! LOL
