Do you hand it to the cashier first, like at Dollar General, then do all other coupons?

I noticed the DG coupon is only good for Saturday. Does this mean you can only use it at GE in Saturday?

I always use it on Saturdays because it says right on it that it's only valid on that specific date I've never asked if it could be used another day but I'd have to say no

I always hand it first and tell them what it is. They all say the same thing " thanks " and just scan the other barcode and type in the $5 amount.
There us also a Save a lot coupon on Facebook that has an expiration date of 2/4/2013. Fyi
