This is funny. Before my husband and I married and he was overseas (Army) his brother sent him some homemade chocolate chip cookies. By the time he got them, they were STILL good, but they tasted just like chips ahoy! LOL

Yeah, that is kind of what happened with mine!! I don't have a candy thermometer, figured it was no big deal, I would just do the ball test. lol It ended up gooey and sticky, but harder than a taffy. We couldn't even chew it because it just stuck to our teeth lol. So it was completely my fault that the recipe didn't work, I just haven't been brave enough to try again(with a thermometer of course!)


Thanks for all the suggestions!! I just sent a box of mostly packaged stuff, trail mix, fruit roll ups, pop tarts, ect. But his next one is going to be full of homemade goodies!
