Question Marks moving boxes or plastice bins???

Opinions welcomed.
I am in the progess of cleaning out the garage. ALL of the boxes I am going through are mine from when I lived at my parents house, 6 in total. I know there are items that I want to keep, but I am torn in between putting them back in moving boxes or splurging and getting the plastic moving bins. I do plan to go through them everyone so often and donating or selling items I no longer need or want.
Please do keep in mind, my hubby is military so do move every 4yrs or so. I know plastic bins can only last for so long, especially when tossed and bumped around. Moving boxes are nice, but can get damaged easily.
Any suggestions or opinions??

These boxes/bins will be holding anything from books to pictures to keepsakes to stuff animals.

Thanks in advance

I would do Bins, but wait til after Christmas to buy them, they will be 50% or more off...I had a few Christmas decorations get damaged this year because the kids put them in boxes and some of the stuff was special to me.

Bins for me too and yes there will be deals on them after the holiday - buy the heavy duty ones - you can tell the difference. I have bins I have moved four times with over the course of 10 yrs and they are still fine. If you are going to get boxes try to get eggs crates of ETOH baoxes they seem to be heavy IMO

I agree that the bins are best. I bought a bunch and used them to move in and out of dorms for years going back and forth across the country, into storage, and through the mail. THey all lasted really well and now my mom uses them to send care packages to my brother in the navy. Def. worth the investment in my opinion.

the last time I moved I used bins, it was sooo much easier, there were no ripped boxes or that box that is big and akward to carry. It seems like the bins stack easier too

Dang, I had a coupon for that........

I agree with these guys!! we are using a combo of bins and boxes simply because I can't wait for a sale but all my kids clothes are in bins and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that. they can be put away and they are all clearly marked with the sizes and stuff. My husband does try to get boxes from the local Fast food chain so that they are almost the same size and shape which helps.
