Unanswered: Difference Between Repping and Thanking Posts
I often use the Rep button and leave a personalized message of thanks to posters.
I don't remember ever seeing a personalized thanks "Rep" on my own User Control Panel screen. Is it because they are not popular w/most users? Does my "Rep" recipient actually see my message? I notice that I can still "Thank" the post even after "Repping" it. Do "Reps" not count as "Thanks"?

Good Question.
I think you've repped a post of mine before and I saw the message. I always wondered how someone did that and didn't leave a comment in the thread.  Now I know. But as far I as I can recall reps and thanks do count for the person the same. Good question! I have no idea.
I just tried with your OP and it said I've given too much rep and need to wait 24 hours. I tried it again and now it says I can't rep a post twice. I tried Foggy's and it says I need to not rep her so much and spread it around. For what it's worth, I've never used the rep until just now, but I do thank alot. I know that doesn't answer your question.... I'm curious what the answer is. ~Kelly~

No it does not work the same either. sanford chef just did a rep on mine above and it doesn't show as a thanked post but the person does get the little message you put in. Now as far as your thanked posts number going up... not sure if it does on that or not when you rep because I don't know what that number was when she put that rep on my post. The Rep counts toward the little green boxes as well as other things. The Rep will get to a certain amount and will not let you do anymore, but the *Thanks* is endless! I never use the Rep strictly for that purpose, I might want to thank that person in another thread, so that is what determines it for me! Hope this helps!
